This week we attended the launch of the Scrum Guide 2020. While Parabol doesn’t hold an opinion if any one form of agile teamwork is “correct,” we try to keep our finger on the pulse of what’s happening in team collaboration. One of the most widely used agile teamwork frameworks, Scrum, released an updated version of their agile teamwork guide.
We think this post from Applied Frameworks does a great job summarizing many of the changes coming to Scrum. Here are a few quotes we found interesting:
- The new Scrum Guide is even less software-specific…[supporting] marketing to manufacturing
- The Daily Scrum is for the people doing the work to plan their day. The status-oriented three questions are gone
- The Sprint Review [is now intended to be] a working session to replace all other status meetings
Keeping abreast of these developments will help influence the why, what, and how designing and implementing Parabol to best support agile teams of all kinds.
Metrics
While the number of top-of-funnel visits slipped somewhat over last week, registrations and mid-funnel activity increased when compared to the week prior. This suggests the top-of-funnel traffic visiting our site may be of higher quality. We don’t think these trends will continue over the US Thanksgiving week, but it’s great to see Q4 rounding out strongly.
This week we…
…shipped v5.25.0 into production. The team continued to focus on the implementation of the Estimation phase of Sprint poker. We updated our meeting controls to center the control bar. We updated the work-in-progress implementation of tucking the meeting discussion into a right drawer. We finished up the template editor. We made progress on implementing voting (and associated animations). And finally, we made it possible to add Parabol tasks to the Sprint Poker Estimation phase
…published a post on fresh retro ideas for new teams
…updated the Retro 101 video to take out references to the 24-hour or 7-day expirations for invite. Now that we’ve updated the team invitation windows to be 30 days, we needed to make sure our documentation reflects reality
…reduced some tech debt. We’ve upgraded uWS to the latest version and worked on implementing our Slack integration away from Slack’s deprecated API
Next week we’ll…
…wrap up Sprint 68
…post a number of new testimonials and pieces of content to our site
