Parabol for People & Culture Teams

Health checks that close the loop

Most engagement surveys end at a dashboard. Parabol’s Team Health ends in the retro where the team decides what to change — and the next check shows whether it worked.

Parabol Team Health result for Psychological Safety: 4.0 out of 5, up 0.4 from 3.6 last cycle, with a trend line across the last five checks and this check's 1–5 answer spread from 6 answers

Survey → Retro → Action → Measure again

Parabol Team Health is a short, anonymous health check a team runs every sprint: five research-backed questions, one per category, revealed in the retro where the team decides what to change. It closes the loop most engagement programs never close, in one tool the teams already open every sprint.

The Gallup Q12 Team Health template in Parabol's Activity Library: pick research-backed questions across categories, answer one new question per category each round, and track health trends over time across teams

1. Ask the questions the research says matter

  • Built-in packs: Everything Bagel, Gallup Q12, Edmondson’s Psychological Safety, Hackman’s Team Diagnostic Survey, Spotify Squad Health Check and Atlassian Team Health Monitor
  • Every question maps to one of five categories from Google’s Project Aristotle
  • Add your own questions — AI files each one under the right category
  • One question per category per check, rotating, so there is no survey fatigue

Answering a Parabol Team Health question anonymously: 'If I make a mistake on this team, it is not held against me' rated 4 on a 1–5 scale from strongly disagree to strongly agree, with an optional comment

2. Get honest answers — anonymity is enforced, not promised

  • Individual answers are never shown to anyone, including the team lead
  • Results reveal only when the check closes, and only above a minimum respondent count
  • Anonymous comments are reworded by AI so nobody is recognized by how they write
  • Slack and in-app reminders reach people who haven’t answered — participation is the metric that decides whether a program lives
Parabol Team Health result for Psychological Safety: 4.0 out of 5, up 0.4, a five-check trend line, the 1–5 answer spread, and two anonymous comments that were reworded by AI

3. Turn the result into a decision, in the same meeting

  • Category scores with change since last check and a five-check trend
  • A discussion thread on every result, with anonymous comments already reworded
  • Create tasks on the spot and sync them to Jira, GitHub, GitLab, Linear or Azure DevOps
  • Run the check as a phase of the retro, so the conversation happens while the numbers are fresh

COMING SOON · ENTERPRISE

See Team Health across every team you lead

Organization-wide Team Health reporting (coming soon) is planned for the Enterprise plan.

Participation, category scores and change since last check for the whole organization in one report — never ranked, and never below the anonymity floor. Group by function, region or business unit, export to CSV, or save a snapshot as a Page.

Illustrative preview of upcoming organization-wide Team Health reporting for Enterprise, with sample data: each team's response rate and latest score in the five categories, color-coded, with change since last check; a team with fewer than 3 responses has its scores hidden to protect anonymity

Everything else your teams need is already here

An incredible tool to facilitate retrospectives and more (works in person AND remotely)

“Parabol makes retrospectives and other types of brainstorm-cluster-discuss types of meetings really smooth. This tool makes it easy to get a lot done fast, even more effectively than on a board with sticky notes.”
