#477 – Deploying Hybrid Search

Friday Ship #477 | February 6th, 2026

parabol's search feature

This week we launched AI-powered search!

At Parabol, our mission is to have fewer, more meaningful meetings. After a meeting ends, we want to be sure those decisions and outcomes carry on throughout the organization. That’s why we started generating meeting summaries in the form of live, collaborative documents. Next, we gave users the power of AI to discover trends in their meetings across time and across their organization. We called this “Insights” and built it right into the editor.

Today, we’re introducing an AI-powered search that allows users (and their AI agents) to find the right page across their corpus of meeting summaries and documents.

For the techies out there, we deployed a state-of-the-art hybrid search engine. It combines traditional keyword matching with semantic meaning. We’ve tuned the ranking to prioritize titles and headings over those that appear in the body of the documents, and in our internal testing, the page you’re after is usually in the top three results.

Give it a shot and let us know what you think!

Metrics

parabol weekly metrics

Meeting volume hit 2,740 this week, a strong bounce-back from the 1,304 we saw during the previous cycle. It’s possible the general strike played a role in that temporary dip, but without more granular regional data, we’re focused on the fact that existing user activity has fully realigned, even as new signups remain leaner at 954 for the week.

This week we…

…launched drag & drop images and files onto pages.

…held our Q4 2025 Board Meeting.

…scheduled a pre-mortem for an upcoming hack-a-thon week.

Next week we’ll

…wrap up Cycle 12.
